Viscose drapes and feels cool. Cotton breathes and holds a kids print. Viscose (rayon) is made from wood pulp, not from the cotton plant. It can be a summer print or part of a winter blend, which is why people ask if it is for summer or winter. Searches are smaller than khaddar and peak in October. Hamayl Designer Hub does not sell viscose.
Viscose vs cotton
| Viscose | Cotton at Hamayl | |
|---|---|---|
| Fibre | Regenerated cellulose | Cotton |
| Hand | Soft drape, slight sheen, creases | Printed lawn, mid-season cotton, or winter cotton |
| Season | Depends on the weave and the blend | Lawn for heat, mid-season for changeable months, winter cotton for cool evenings |
| How we sell it | Not in stock | Unstitched per gaz |
A viscose blend in a winter suit is not the same as a summer viscose lawn. If the question is “what should a child wear”, cotton is the cloth we cut: it washes, it takes a cartoon print, and you buy only the gaz.
Other names we do not stock yet: velvet, marina, dhanak, karandi, cambric, peach wool.
What to buy instead
Mid-season cotton is the printed cotton in stock for this time of year. Hot months use funky lawn. Cool nights use winter cotton. Cash on delivery. Gaz chart.
